This picture shows the typical Mainzer ‘Spundekäs’, a hearty mixture of curd cheese, sour cream and a (secret) selection of spices traditionally served with wine. Indeed, as one would expect in one of the World’s Wine Capitals, traditional Wine Taverns boast first class wine selections (not only) from one of the countries most prominent wine-growing regions Rheinhessen. But in addition to restaurants catering to the local tastes, a wide spectrum of international cuisines will satisfy any craving!

Whether you take a cooking class with friends, finally decide to master Swing Dance, join one of the innumerous student clubs, practice shooting your long bow, play your favorite sports including Lacrosse, or explore a brand new hobby (fotography, pottery, oil-painting, book-printing, acapella, choirs or concerts, Mainz has something for everybody!

As a student once said: “I do not know what the Mainzers are celebrating this weekend….there’s something going on every weekend…..I’ve given up figuring out why. I just join them!”
